Imagination, dreams and inspiration from a book left by a guest, along with our own desire to create a real magical space led us to create the North Star Treehouse. Designed and built with love and care for nature, North Star is an incredible and unique space where you can relax, rewind and reconnect. In 2025 it was featured on BBC TV in Robsons Weekend Escapes, with a guest visit by Steve Cram.
The elevated heart shaped timber structure was conceived by an architect friend who knew that this shape reflected the ethos and ambience of Laverock Law. It has been built as a cooperative project between Dave, Northumbrian Woodworks and a host of other local craftspeople. The North Star is perfectly located and orientated around dance of the sun and the moon to reward you with stunning sunrises, cheviot sunsets and awesome dark skies viewed through the master bedrooms skylight, your own unique observatory to the heavens. Outside space, a haven for wildlife and birdsong is brought to you through the panoramic windows and your own unique raised deck area.
The main living space with its high ceilings, large picture windows and woodburning stove provides you with the perfect place to sit and relax. Whilst the fully fitted and equipped kitchen will encourage you to sample some of Northumberland’s great food and drink.
Step through to the bedroom, the large king-size bed with organic bedding adds luxury to your stay whilst you gaze upwards through the large sky window at our amazing dark skies. The rays of the morning sun will warm your heart as they burst through the arched window, to give you a beautiful start to your day. If you are having a family adventure then a second bunk room with full-size bunk beds provides you with accommodation for two children.
Your bathroom immediately adjacent to the master bedroom has a handmade porthole window with views across the lower croft and orchard area. A large step in shower and underfloor heating ensure that every moment of your stay has that little bit extra.
The construction of the whole of the North Star Treehouse has been driven by sustainability and uniqueness. We have used local wood whenever possible, metal work produced by the local smithy and thermofleece sheeps wool insulates floor, ceiling and walls to keep the structure at a stable and comfortable temperature. All your electricity is sourced from a genuine renewable supplier, cleaning using green and biodegradable materials, organic bedding, locally made hand-thrown crockery and of course your choice of homemade cake as a welcome.
