Booking Information, Terms & Conditions
To make a booking please submit a booking enquiry. Paying for your holiday We require a non-refundable deposit of one quarter of the cost of your holiday on booking. Payment by BACS is preferred (details given when booking) but you can also pay by cheque made payable to Laverock Law Cottages. The balance is due six weeks before your holiday begins. If we have not received your balance four weeks before the beginning of your holiday we will assume you wish to cancel and your deposit will be forfeited. We strongly recommend that you arrange travel insurance.Payment of deposit assumes you have read and accept these conditions. Cancellation If you do need to cancel, for any reason, please give more than 8 weeks’ notice and, although your deposit is non-refundable, we won’t make any further charges. If you cancel within 4 weeks we will charge you the full cost of your holiday unless another booking can be found for the period. Price The price includes the use of your holiday cottage and garden, heating, hot water and lighting and a basket of logs, (additional logs are available on site for a donation to Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team) Unbleached organic cotton bed linen and a set of towels per person. Arrivals and departure Your holiday in Swallow Cottage begins on Friday. Woodpecker and Skylark cottage holidays begins on Saturday. Your cottage will be ready for you to arrive any time after 4pm. This gives us time to get everything ready for you. When you arrive please come to Curlew Cottage, (just along from Skylark) so that we can welcome you in. If you ring us when you're nearby we will make sure the fire is lit, and tea and homemade cake are waiting. On departure day, please leave by 10.00am. Cleaning We ask you to respect the cottage and leave it as you found it, this ensures we can get it ready for the next guests, Groceries and Fresh Produce The Green Shop in Berwick upon Tweed has a wide range of organic and Fairtrade goods, including all sorts of groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables. (Tel.: 01289 305566). Wooler has a great local co-op, independent butchers and at the top end of the high Street the 'Good Life Shop' is a fantastic local deli. Lowick has a small village shop which is well stocked with essential items and sells newspapers. A daily delivery can be arranged (cycle powered when weather permits). There is a selection of other supermarkets in either Alnwick or Berwick-Upon-Tweed. Children We welcome children of all ages at our cottages and hope they have a wonderful holiday, we have a number of boxes of toys and games that we will put in the cottages for your family to use during your stay. If your child will be having a birthday during your stay please let us know so we can make them a special birthday cake. We ask that children are supervised in the cottage. A cot and fireguard are available on request. |
Damages and breakages Please let us know immediately if something is damaged or not working in your cottage and please also let us know if you break anything, so we can do our best to mend or replace for you as soon as possible. We accept the odd breakage and normal wear and tear as part of daily life, but any major breakages, stains or damage caused willfully or through lack of care will have to be paid for. Non-Availability of Accommodation We would only cancel your accommodation under exceptional circumstances, for reasons beyond our control. In the event that we are unable to proceed with your booking we will offer you a full refund. Our liability would not extend beyond this. Pets We welcome well behaved pets in all of the cottages and the Harvest Hut by prior arrangement with an additional charge per pet of £25. Smoking Smoking is not permitted in any of our cottages. Liability Laverock Law Cottages can accept no responsibility in regards to damage caused while using the cottages or parking areas. We accept no liability for damage to persons or property during your stay with us, except where proven through the negligence of ourselves. We recommend that you arrange travel insurance. Data Protection Policy We will keep your information securely and we will not share your details with a third party, unless it is in order to comply with the law. Environmental Ethical and Social Statement Looking after our environment is really important to us and we hope and anticipate that you will share our ethos whilst staying with us, Our environmental charter is in the accommodation and we welcome feedback and suggestions. There are some wonderful food producers in the region which will add taste and variety to your stay, items from some of these will be included in your welcome pack. We source locally, from ethical suppliers and recycle as much as possible. Please use the recycling bins provided and be thoughtful about energy use and water. Laverock Law is a place where there is no judgement and everyone is treated as there own person, we welcome without any prejudice those with disabilities or from any race or sexual orientation. If you wish to get to us using public transport, the nearest station is Berwick Upon Tweed, from which we will happily collect you. Cycles can be stored securely during your stay or may be hired from Heatherslaw Cycle Hire, Ford. Tel: 01890 820338. Campfires During the summer months we will have a campfire (usually on a Thursday Night if it is calm) in the paddock, all children must be supervised by an adult, Laverock Law cottages can accept no responsibility for any accidents that happen when children are not correctly supervised. We will allow campfires at any other times by prior agreement. Access Information All of our cottages are single storey, with a small step at the entrance way. They are level accessed from a flat car parking area, and help is available to unload vehicle if required. There are no steps at all in skylark cottage, woodpecker cottage and swallow cottage have a small internal step of approximately 100mm in and out of the main living area. All bathrooms have both a bath with handles and a walk-in shower cubicle, these are fitted with grab handles. There is good access in the master bedrooms at both sides of the bed, all corridors have low level lighting for night-time use. All cottages are frequently used by people with limited mobility and we can provide covered areas for charging of mobility scooters. The cottage gardens can all be accessed without steps, there is a single shallow step at the backdoor of each cottage. The remainder of the land at Laverock is all level ground which allows easy access for walks in the trees and croft. The Treehouse is accessed from a set of 8 steps, these are wide with handrails both sides to a level deck area and a small step into the accommodation. Once inside everything is level, there is a grass and stone path to the treehouse. The Harvest Hut is accessed from 4 steps, with a grass path through the trees, the bathroom for the treehouse is approx. 50 metres distance.
