Feltmaking at Laverock Law
Making a feltwork from wool fibres is a great way to explore your creativity and is just a great way to relax and have fun. Harvest has been making felt for a number of years and will help you to learn the various techniques needed to make your own unique piece of art to take away. You will have the opportunity to explore and use a myriad of amazing colours and textures and be encouraged to set yourself free with expression, in an explosion of creative wellbeing. Feltmaking is great way to really relax as part of your stay at Laverock Law and is a really uplifting experience, set aside half a day during your holiday for an introductory session, or book on to a three day retreat to really develop your skills.
During an introduction to feltmaking you will work with colourful woolfibres, taking inspiration from the surrounding landscapes to create your own special artwork to take home and treasure. A half day introduction to feltmaking costs £55 (including materials), (Shorter children's courses are available at £25). The three-day retreat starts with an home cooked evening meal at Laverock, where you will have the opportunity to meet others on the course. The journey over the following days will involve looking at a variety of feltmaking techniques, starting from making a basic fabric to the creation of your own truly amazing artwork by the end of the three days. We will intersperse the feltmaking with short walks for inspiration as well as the opportunity for quiet meditation and contemplation for those who wish. Accommodation will be provided in one of our holiday cottages and all meals are included with plenty of wholesome home cooking in the evenings, homemade soups and breads for lunch as well as homemade cakes. The three-day feltmaking course including all materials, food and three nights accommodation at Laverock Law costs £345. |
