Breadmaking at Laverock Law
Why not spend some time on your holiday either learning to make bread for the first time or brushing up on skills. A breadmaking course with Harvest and Dave is designed to give you an understanding of the art of Breadmaking and give you the skills and confidence to become a home baker.
Harvest was born at Little Salkeld Watermill and has spent her whole life surrounded by bread, flour and traditional milling. Dave was a miller at Little Salkeld and now mills at Heatherslaw on the Ford and Etal estate – he has always had a passion for home baking. The courses take part in our own family kitchen. The course aims to show you just how easy and fun breadmaking can be and will be tailored to your own requirements and group size. Adults courses are all about fun and confidence, we usually make several doughs to explore how different flours work, whilst the doughs are rising, we will take a break with tea and homemade cake or fresh baked scones, then explore some of the science of yeast and dough. Then comes the fun part as we start to create all sorts of breads, ranging from straightforward loaves and fancy plaits through to focaccia, bagels and beer bread. We go where the dough takes us and whether the course is for an individual or small group of friends the one thing that is guaranteed is lots of different bread to take home and a great time. Cost of course Adults courses typically last for around 3 hours and cost £55 per person. We offer discounts for 3 or more people. For children we will simply make a basic dough and then maybe use this to make some fun shaped bread, maybe a dinosaur loaf or fairy bread or even a pizza for lunch. Children's courses typically last for 1.5 hours and cost £20 per child. |
